As a long-time media sponsor and attendee of The TASTE, I have a bevy of tips to help you navigate all of the delicious dishes you will encounter at the benefit. It’s no small feat to sip and nibble all night long, so here are the things I’ve learned over the years!
This is a cocktail party, so plan on dressing accordingly. Leave your standard Fort Collins “nice jeans” at home. Fort Collins rarely offers opportunities to dress to impress, so take advantage of this one! This is when you can pull out your downtown Denver items, for sure. Ladies – heels are nice, but also remember that you’re going to be on your feet all night long walking around from table to table, balancing a plate of tapas and a glass of wine. I’m a sucker for punishment and wear ridiculous heels anyway, wincing by the time I get back to the car at the end of the evening. But just FYI on that one.
One thing I really love about this event is the opportunity to sip on a variety of different wines to find a number of new favorites. Every month I attend a wine potluck dinner with friends, and it’s because of events like The TASTE that I’m able to bring a fantastic bottle that’s usually the first to be enjoyed. The best tip here is to take a photo of the wine label so you know what you’ve sipped and loved!
This is where it can get overwhelming because of the variety. Some people will try to dine at each restaurant’s table. If you can do that, whew! You’re an eating champ. But, if you’re more selective and don’t want to feel like you have to be rolled out of the event at the end of the night, the TASTE has some menu highlights on their Facebook page. Some things they’ve already shared are:
- The Moot House – House-made pretzels, corned beef, and Jarlsberg fondue
- Social – Serrano Jamon Wrapped Cantaloupe
- Origins Wine Bar & Woodfired Pizza – Seared polenta cake and meatball with house red sauce, topped with shaved parmesan and fresh basil
- Coopersmith’s – White Chocolate Bread Pudding
Be sure to follow them to see what else is in store!
While all of this glamours attire with decadent food and drinks are a wonderful experience, the real reason to attend is to help support the Food Bank for Larimer County. By purchasing a general admission ticket, you are helping to provide $375 worth of food, and a VIP ticket provides $500 worth of food for our neighbors in need. The Taste has raised nearly $750,000 for hunger-relief initiatives in its 23 year history, and all of the event sponsors have made it so that 100% of the ticket sales go directly to the Food Bank and their efforts.
